LEWISTON — College for ME-Androscoggin announces another round of scholarships designated for adult students: the Thomas W. and Beulah Long Musgrave Fund Scholarship and the First Class Scholarship.

The Musgrave Fund Scholarships, offered in partnership with the Maine Community Foundation, are each $1000 and are for adult students age 25 and older currently enrolled in an accredited program of study leading to a degree, certification or similar recognition.

Up to five Musgrave Fund Scholarships may be awarded to adult students residing in Androscoggin County for the semester or term beginning after Jan. 1, 2014.

College for ME-Androscoggin’s First Class Scholarship covers the tuition cost of a single three-credit course for adults who are starting college for the first time or who are restarting after an absence of many years.

Adults awarded a First Class Scholarship become members of a cohort that helps them navigate the multiple barriers often faced by adults who are new to the demands of today’s college classrooms.

Eligible adult students must have resided in Maine for the previous five years, currently reside in Androscoggin County, demonstrate financial need, good character and a seriousness of purpose toward their education.

These scholarships can be downloaded from  www.collegeformeandroscoggin.org.

Deadline for the First Class Scholarship is Dec.2 and for the Musgrave Fund Scholarship, Dec. 9.

College for ME-Androscoggin is a local nonprofit working on college access and attainment initiatives in Androscoggin County. The Maine Community Foundation partners with donors and nonprofits to strengthen Maine communities.
