AUBURN — Jeannette Gilbert Buck, 92, a former resident of Depot Street in Livermore Falls, died Tuesday, Nov. 26, at Clover Manor Nursing Home.
She was born in Canton on Feb. 24, 1921, the daughter of Harold B. Gilbert and Jessie (Reed) Gilbert. Jeannette was a 1938 graduate of Canton High School and a 1943 graduate of Augusta General Hospital School of Nursing, earning her degree as a registered nurse. On Aug. 12, 1945, in Fayette, she married her husband of 36 years, George M. Buck; he passed away July 12, 1982.
Jeannette worked for 50 years as a registered nurse, working for Diamond National in Dixfield, Montello Manor and Central Maine General in Lewiston, Rumford Community Hospital in Rumford, Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington and retired in 1993 from Dixfield Health Care.
Jeannette was a member of the Canton Baptist Church, Canton Senior Citizens, Jay-Livermore Falls Senior Citizens, Ponemah Rebekah Lodge of Canton and the Frank L. Mitchell VFW Post 3335 Ladies Auxiliary in Jay. She enjoyed bingo and the Senior Citizens trips.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan Buck, of Litchfield; three grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; her stepson, Arthur Buck, of Portland; her brother, Harold Gilbert and his wife, Norma, of Lewiston; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sons, Calvin Buck in 1994 and Bruce Buck in 1998; stepson, Blair Buck; and sisters, Lois Gordon and Elizabeth Samson.
