1932 – 2013
AUBURN — Roland R. Pleau, 80, of 100 Campus Ave., St. Mary’s Residences, Lewiston, died Monday, Nov. 25, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice.
He was born in Lewiston on Dec. 29, 1932, a son of the late Frank and Dorilda Pelletier Pleau. He was educated in Lewiston schools and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Roland was married on Jan. 24, 1959, to Murielle Guay; she predeceased him on Apr. 9, 2005.
Prior to his retirement, Roland was employed at Bates Manufacturing for 43 years as a loom fixer. He was a longtime member of the former St. Mary’s Church. He enjoyed rooting for the Montreal Canadiens and the New York Giants.
He is survived by two daughters, Jeannine Roy and Anita Smart and husband, Brian, all of Lewiston; a son, William R. Pleau, of Lewiston; three grandchildren, Stephanie Lewis and husband, Brian, James Mercier and wife, Wendy, and Daniel Smart; five great-grandchildren; and his special friend, Rita Galipeau.
He was predeceased by a son, Philip Roy; a granddaughter, Rebecca Mercier; a sister, Juliette Champagne; and three brothers, Arthur, Leo and George Pleau.
