L/A Social Programs for People Living with Alzheimer’s and Those Who Care for Them, 1 to 2:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6. Instructor: Mark Pechenik, Alzheimer’s Association. For the first time, the Maine’s Alzheimer’s Association is offering its social programs in the Lewiston/Auburn area. Come learn about the upcoming, safe and enjoyable activities for people living with Alzheimer’s and those who care for them.
Healthy Holiday Snacks, 10 to 11:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 9. Instructor: Rebecca Dugan, St. Mary’s Nutrition Center. Sample healthy holiday snacks and get great recipes.
Tap Into Your Creativity and Have Some Fun!, 1 to 4 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9. Cost: $12 for materials. Instructor: Lisa MacDonald, local artisan. Design and create an 18-inch beaded necklace and set of matching earrings. Choose from a wide variety of beads, crystals and pearls to make a beautiful set for yourself or for someone as a gift. All supplies and tools will be provided including gold and silver plated clasps and earring wires. Class size limited.
Ready, Set, Snow! Are You Ready?, 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 12. Instructor: Rayette Hudon, traffic safety specialist, public affairs and traffic safety, AAA. Participants will be reminded of what we need to do to prepare ourselves and our cars for winter driving, along with tips on how to drive on ice and snow.

Holidays are a time for family togetherness and memories, but can also be a time filled with stress and sadness for the person with dementia and their caregiver(s).
