I am writing on behalf of Farmington Friends Meeting, a member of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers).

A couple of weeks ago our sign in front of the Holman House at 227 Main St. in Farmington, announcing the presence and meeting time of our local Quaker group, disappeared.

At first we couldn’t imagine anyone wanting to own such a sign and hoped that it would reappear. It didn’t, and we reported its loss to the police, who were not very hopeful that they would find it.

We had just recently purchased this sign to replace an earlier one that was beginning to disintegrate, and for a small group like ours, with a small budget, the expense of having to buy a new sign will take money that could otherwise go to support worthy projects in the community.

So this is an appeal to the new owner or owners of our sign — or to anyone who knows its whereabouts — to return it.

We would be most grateful.
