JAY — The trailer of an empty logging truck went off Route 140, snapping a utility pole Monday morning, Jay police Sgt. Troy Young said.
The 2007 Kenworth rig, driven by Johnny Fortin, 32, of Canada, was going too fast for the slushy road conditions, he said. Fortin was not hurt.
The utility pole snapped in half and another pole ended up under the rear of the trailer. Wires landed on the trailer, Young said.
The truck is owned by Quebec Inc., he said.
The accident occurred at 8:28 a.m., and there was still only one lane open as of 4 p.m., Young said.
Jay firefighters assisted at the scene and helped direct traffic.
