DEAR SUN SPOTS: Thanks for all your help. I am looking for a small stool to put by my bed because my bed is so high and I have a hard time getting on it.

I’ve looked for one, but they don’t seem to make them anymore. They have some at Walmart, but they fold, and I was told they were dangerous for falls.

I’m 87 years old, and I would appreciate it if someone would have one that they are not using. I’m willing to pay for it. Thanks. — M.L., Lewiston, 312-7405

ANSWER: About 15 years ago, Sun Spots bought a stool much like you describe. It is about 15 inches square and high, very sturdy, with a hand-hold in the middle. It is terrific for all sorts of uses, and Sun Spots uses it nearly every day in her kitchen.

The price tag is still on it ($19.99), but the store is illegible. An online search of the stores she usually frequents did not turn up one like it.

The closest Sun Spots found were step stools for small children. They are about the same size, although a bit shorter, but in kid colors. If you didn’t mind that, it should be sturdy enough and easy to move around.

Or perhaps a reader will know of another source or have one in their home they no longer use.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Here is a recipe for gluten-free coconut pie for the holidays. — Gabrielle, Lewiston

ANSWER: Sun Spots could not find a request from a reader for gluten-free pie in recent columns, but even if she had, she could not print what you sent, as it comes from a copyrighted source. It was very nice of you to send it, however.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Recently, at the Smilin’ Moose Tavern, our waitstaff found a Popsicle stick with the name “Patrick” and the number “2” written on it that had been left behind. Our concern is that this may be a Christmas for kids’ program.

We are hoping that either the person who may have lost it or the program that uses the Popsicle sticks will contact us so that this child will have a merry Christmas.

Please call us at 739-6006 or stop in and pick up the stick. Thank you and have a happy holiday season. — Tanya Kimball, kimballtanya@gmail.com

DEAR SUN SPOTS: If anyone (perhaps a hunter?) is searching for a set of keys lost in a field between Ferry and Cotton roads in Lewiston, we found them and are holding them. Please call 576-4785. Thank you. — Pat Bell, Lewiston

DEAR SUN SPOTS: For the person looking for a strong-smelling balsam fir candle (Nov. 20), I found a place for him to check out. The Candle Place, Route 26, Oxford, carries Yankee balsam fir and mistletoe in jars. The smell is strong like the balsam fir trees.

I love helping people out, so hopefully if he does go, this will be what he wanted. It’s worth the trip! — Judy Lagasse, Wilton
