OTISFIELD — An early morning crash on Bolsters Mills Road on Wednesday sent an Oxford man to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Tate Tibbetts, 21, was driving south at approximately 4:45 a.m. when the 2006 Chevrolet Equinox he was driving hit a patch of black ice.

According to Maine State Police Trooper Jonathan Russell, Tibbetts overcorrected the sport utility vehicle, causing it to slide off the road into a ditch and crash into a tree. No one else was in the vehicle, Russell said.

Tibbetts suffered non-serious injuries and was transported by PACE ambulance to Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway for further evaluation, Russell said.

The vehicle is likely a total loss, Russell said.
