WILTON — A pickup truck was heavily damaged Wednesday morning when it hit a patch of ice on Munson Road and crashed into a tree, police Sgt. Chad Abbott said.

Driver Grace-Lyn Coolidge, 19, of Wilton left the Big Apple and turned right onto Munson Road, he said. Once the truck’s rear-end started to slide, she overcorrected and the truck hit the tree, he said.

Coolidge and two passengers, Devin Stanley, 19, of New Sharon and Danielle Meisner, 15, of New Sharon, were checked at the scene by a crew from NorthStar EMS ambulance, he said. They were not taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Firefighters responded to the 6:39 a.m. accident to control traffic. The Highway Department sanded the road.

The 2008 Dodge truck is registered to Coolidge’s father, Timothy Fitch, of Wilton, Abbott said. The truck frame was bent and the truck was considered a total loss.
