NORWAY — The First Friday reception and holiday party will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, at the Western Maine Art Group’s Main Street Gallery, 426 Main Street. On display will be paintings of Julieanne Reed, the artist of the month for December.
Reed paints animals and magical beings featuring birds and animals that dwell in her surroundings and just out of view. Her focus is much on the in-between times — the light as the day begins and ends, capturing moments of serious play in a world where messengers come in all forms, many of them winged. She draws on dreamtime to see what is often hiding in plain sight.
