1961 – 2013

FARMINGTON — Susan Jean Phillips, 52, of Farmington, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, at Franklin Memorial Hospital, following a courageous battle with breast cancer.

She was born in Portland on Aug. 27, 1961, a daughter of Charles L. and Eleanor (Gormley) Phillips. She graduated from Freeport High School and was a 1984 graduate of the University of Maine at Farmington. She was a beloved teacher who will be remembered at RSU 9 schools: W.G. Mallett School, Mt. Blue Middle School and G.D. Cushing School.

Susan was an outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, biking, hiking, walking, gardening, camping and most recently, she learned the art of fly-fishing.

She is survived by her children, Cameron Salisbury of Portland, Keirstin Salisbury, Andrew Salisbury and twins, William Salisbury and Aidan Salisbury, all of Farmington; her soul mate, Christopher Begin, of Farmington; her dad, Charles L. Phillips and his partner, Maryann Proulx, of Freeport; her siblings, Nancy Scott and her husband, Brad, of Gorham, Charles Phillips Jr. “Sonny” of Freeport, Mark Phillips of Advance, N.C., and Diane Phillips of Freeport; four nieces, Jessica Scott, Lindsey McGeehan and her husband, David, Jessica Salisbury and Rebecca Salisbury; one nephew, Myles Phillips; and cousins.

She was predeceased by her mother, Eleanor Phillips, on Jan. 24, 1998.
