Guest leader: Mayerson
LEWISTON — Jeff Mayerson will be the guest service leader at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, at Calvary United Methodist Church, 59 Sabattus St. Mayerson, regular percussionist at the church, will step in as Pastor Casey Collins is away this week.
The public is invited to join the congregation in celebrating the second Sunday of Advent.
The Praise Team, led by Mitch Thomas, will sing and there will be a children’s moment as well.
Bible study is at 9 a.m. Faith Village for children begins at 9:30 a.m.

Sermon on ‘nicest gift’
PARIS — “The Nicest Gift I Ever Got” is the title of a sermon to be given by Silver Moore-Leamon on Sunday, Dec. 8, at the First Universalist Church on Pine Street.
Music for the 10 a.m. worship service is under the direction of Donna Hurd and Sunday School is under the direction of Renee Wales. Coffee and fellowship will follow and all are welcome.
The church will host the annual Christmas Eve candlelight service of music and reading for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24. All are welcome. Childcare is available for all worship services and the church is wheelchair accessible.
Evening of song, special music
DIXFIELD — All are invited to join members as they “Make a Joyful Noise Unto the Lord” at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at the Dixfield Common Baptist Church, Common Road. This will be a fun evening with song and special music.
The event is sponsored by the Dixfield Common Baptist Church and the Carthage Union Church.
