Bridgton Hospital and Rumford Hospital leaders David Frum, president, and John Ludwig, vice president for operations, were speakers at the National Center for Health Care Leadership’s Human Capital Investment conference in Chicago on Nov. 19.

Their presentation, “There’s No Crying in Management,” focused on the leadership challenges faced by their two critical-access hospitals during the past several years. The focus of the presentation was one of transforming culture in a challenging health care environment in order to be prepared for the future.

Frum was named president of Bridgton Hospital in 2010, and assumed the responsibility of president of Rumford Hospital in 2012. He has served in multiple senior leadership positions prior to his tenure in Maine.

Ludwig joined Bridgton Hospital as chief nursing officer/chief operating officer in 2001 from St. Joseph Hospital West, Lake Saint Louis, Mo., where he served as administrative director of the 100-bed hospital. His arrival at Bridgton Hospital coincided with the opening of the new hospital in January 2002.
