FARMINGTON — Farmington Recreation Department has announced its 34th season of Junior Pro Basketball. The program is under the direction of Kim Richards, who is in her 22nd year as director.
Girls and boys from grades 2 through 8 are eligible to take part in the Farmington Recreation Department’s annual instructional basketball program, Junior Pro Basketball. Players will be separated into two divisions, consisting of both girls and boys on the same team, to promote balanced competition and equal play opportunity.
Junior Pro is an in-house basketball opportunity for elementary and middle school students who do not play on travel teams or participate on their interscholastic basketball teams. All games and/or practices will take place in the Bjorn Gymnasium of the Farmington Community Center.
Any second-grade players wishing to repeat or enroll in the “prep” basketball program may do so when it begins on Wednesday evenings in January.
Fourth-grade players wishing to play against a higher level of competition may request to “play up” in Division 2 against older elementary grade and middle school players.
Registration Deadline is Thursday, Dec. 12. The Rec. Dept. Office will stay open until 6 p.m. on Thursday to accept registrations after hours. Registrations will not be taken over the phone.
The preseason will take place at the following times and dates:
* 2nd Division, grades 5-8, at 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 14 and 21 only.
* 1st Division, grades 2- 4, at 1:15 p.m. on Dec. 14 and 21 only.
Starting times for each team’s preseason scrimmages will be announced on Dec. 15
