Cookies, craft fair is Dec. 14

NORWAY — A cookies and craft fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at Christ Episcopal Church, 35 Paris St.

Items will include arts, crafts, cookies, home-baked goodies, Christmas decorations and forgotten but rediscovered treasures.

There will also be numerous raffles such as theme baskets for knitters, animal lovers, cooks and many more.

Warm beverages and snacks will be available.

Raffle items can be viewed and tickets can be bought at the parish house or church.

Annual Christmas Cantata is Dec. 15

LOCKE MILLS — Annual Christmas Cantata, “Lead Me Back To Bethlehem,” will be performed by the Community Choir from area churches and directed by Beverly Melville at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, at the Locke Mills Union Church. Refreshments following. Everyone is welcome.

Second Chances craft, vendor fair

PARIS — The Second Chances Foundation, in conjunction with Shauna Lee Photography and the Four Seasons Function Center, will hold a Christmas craft/vendor fair from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, at the Four Seasons Function Center, 187 Main St.

The nonprofit organization was created to raise funds for a double lung transplant for Aimee Driscoll, a 28-year-old woman with cystic fibrosis.

There will be crafters as well as several vendors including Pampered Chef, Scentsy, Thirty-One and more.

Children’s holiday craft program

NORWAY — Elementary students are invited to attend “Not a Creature was Stirring” at Norway Memorial Library from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16.

Get into the holiday spirit by listening to the classic poem “Twas the Night Before Christmas” and then make a candy cane mouse ornament to take home. All supplies are provided.

WEST PARIS — The West Paris Historical Society Christmas meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16. The place will be announced at a later time.

NORWAY — A public interest forum, “Why War? Why Peace,” will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, at the Fare Share Commons, 443 Main St.

She will be joined by former nurse anesthetist and Vietnam War veteran Ted Kehn, educator Russ Tornrose and Rev. Fayre Stephenson of the Universalist Church of Norway.

Board members needed

LEWISTON — Community Concepts in Lewiston is seeking volunteer members for its board of directors and various committees that help support and direct the mission of the agency.

Community Concepts provides a variety of housing, economic development and social services for communities in the Androscoggin, Franklin and Oxford county areas. These services support both the basic needs of low income families and promote self-sufficiency.

OXFORD — Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge Club met Dec. 6 for a 6 1/2-table Howell movement.

Finishing second in flight B were Cynthia and Bill Clifford Jr. (Lewiston); third, Nancy Farmer (Norway) and Mike Newsom (Norway); fourth, Milt McKeen (Bridgton) and Jim Krainin (Naples), who also were first in flight C. Free supper for all is Dec. 20

NORWAY — A free supper will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, at Second Congregational Church, UCC, 205 Main St. Whether you are visiting the Oxford Hills, single or a large family group, all are invited to join for a dinner of ham, potatoes, veggies and dessert.

New Year’s Eve dance at Legion

PARIS — A New Year’s Eve dance will take place from 8 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, at the American Legion Hall, 12 Church St.

Music will be provided by Jones Dance Band. A smorgasbord lunch will available at 9:45 p.m.

West Paris Baptist holiday events

WEST PARIS — The West Paris Baptist is planning a group of activities for the holiday season.

On Saturday, Dec. 21, from 3 to 5 p.m., there will be wagon-drawn caroling from the church around the village. Starting at 5 in front of the church, a live nativity will take place with caroling.

On Sunday, Dec. 22, there will be performances of a Christmas musical, “Emanuel,” at 9:50 a.m. and again at 2 p.m. in the church sanctuary.

A Christmas Eve service is planned for 6 p.m Tuesday, Dec. 24.

Lewiston Bridge Club winners

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Bridge Club winners at the Lewiston Armory on Dec. 9 were as follows: first, Jeanine Kivus and David Lock; second, Luke Merry and Tom Goodwin; third, Les Buzzell and Paul Sherman.

Winners on Dec. 10 were: first, Larry Fortier and Roger Labbe; second, Jeanine Kivus and Fred Letourneau; third, Paul Sherman and Mike True.
