1933 – 2013

LEWISTON — Delano E. Chamberlain, 80, of Buckfield, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 12, at Montello Manor. He battled cancer since it was discovered in July.

He was born in Lewiston on Nov. 23, 1933, the son of David and Mary (Albert) Chamberlain. The family lived in Hartford and Delano graduated from Canton High School in 1951. He joined the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge, he moved back to Maine. He married Alice (Cooper) Chamberlain on June 22, 1957 — a marriage of 56 years.

Delano was a lifelong logger and loved the Maine woods. He was an avid reader of history and a Red Sox fan; he was glad to see them win it all again this year and watched every game with his son, Paul.

He is survived by his wife, Alice; his son, Paul; three brothers, Roger and his wife, Muriel, Bernard “Art” and his wife, Irene, and Armand and his wife, Dottie; and three sisters-in-law, Marcella, Laurette and Annie.

He was predeceased by four brothers, Harold, David and Lucian, and his eldest brother, Edward and his wife, Mamie.

The family would like to thank the fine staff at Montello Manor.
