ROBINSON — A 73-year-old Mars Hill woman escaped serious injury Friday evening after rolling her vehicle over on a slippery road.
Chief Deputy Darrell Crandall of the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Department said that Dorothy Durgin of Mars Hill was driving her 2010 Chrysler Sebring on Robinson Road in Robinson, which is near Blaine, around 4:30 p.m. when she crested a hill in a location where the road makes a sweeping left turn. She lost control on the slippery surface of the road and veered out of control, crossing the center line into oncoming traffic. The vehicle rolled over and flipped into a ditch, where it came to rest.
Durgin was not injured, according to Crandall, but her vehicle is believed to be a total loss.
Deputy Sheriffs Vance Palmer, Michael Montpetit and Ryan Doughty were on the scene to investigate the crash.
“As winter starts to bring bad weather that impacts road conditions, we encourage everyone to slow down and allow themselves more time to arrive at their destinations,” Crandall said Friday evening.
