1920 – 2013

RUMFORD — Anthony “Tony” Mortus, 93, died Sunday, Dec. 15, at his residence on Porter Avenue West in Rumford.

He was born in Mexico on Jan. 8, 1920, the son of Anton and Lydia (Barran) Mortus, and graduated from Mexico High School. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Air Force overseas as a cook in England.

Tony worked at Oxford Paper Co. in Rumford in the color plant as a day foreman, until retirement. He was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior, St. Athanasius-St. John Church. He was married in Old Orchard Beach to Vitolia “Vick” Lukasius; she died in West Paris on Dec. 6, 2003.

There are no close relatives surviving. He was predeceased by his parents; wife; daughter, Cynthia Ann “Cindy” Mortus; and brother, Charles.
