1929 – 2013

RUMFORD — Flossie C. Rose, 84, died Sunday, Dec. 15, at Rumford Hospital. She was a resident of Howard Street in Mexico.

Born in Rumford on May 10, 1929, she was the daughter of Urban B. and Myrtle (Easter) Lohnes. She was a graduate of Mexico High School, Class of 1947. She worked as a clerk at Newberry’s Department Store and later as a library aide at the Mexico High School Media Center in the library for many years, until her retirement in 1988.

She was a member of the Mexico Congregational Church and the Women’s Fellowship at the church. She loved needlepoint, cards and spending time with her family.

She was married in Rumford on March 19, 1954, to Norbert N. “Norbie” Rose, who survives of Mexico. Other survivors include a son, James Rose and wife, Eileen, of Bethel; two daughters, Cynthia Christie and husband, David, of Mexico and Kathryn Macgowan and husband, Kenneth, of Falmouth; grandchildren, Johnathan, Andrew and Victoria Bohren, Anna Christie, Garrett, Cory and Trent Macgowan and Noah Rose; great-grandchildren, Aria Macgowan and Madyson White; two sisters, Beryl Comstock and husband, Darrold, of Mexico and Elizabeth Textor and husband, Walter, of Auburn; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by six sisters, Elsie Bowie, Jessie Comstock, Vaughn Libby, Mary Knapp, Irene Lohnes and Olive Elliot; and a brother, Urban Lohnes.
