1930 – 2013

LEWISTON — Dolores “Del” Carmen Dumont, 83, a resident of d’Youville Pavilion and previously a resident of Odd Fellows’ and Rebekahs’ Home of Auburn, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 14, with her family by her side.

Born in Lewiston on Jan. 8, 1930, daughter of the late Noel and Rose (Cote) Laplante, she attended Lewiston schools. On Oct. 28, 1950, she married Arthur Dumont. She worked in the mills of Lewiston, including Knapp Shoe, Billin Shoe and retired from Supreme Slipper in 1992.

Dolores had a beautiful voice. In her earlier years, she sang in a duo with her sister, Fleurette Labbay, together known as “the Dolly Sisters.”

She was a proud, independent lady who raised her five children as her mother and father had raised their children.

Dolores will be remembered for her generous spirit and sunny disposition. She enjoyed laughter and spending time with her grandchildren. She was an inspiration to all who knew her.
