1938 – 2013

LEWISTON Ronald R. Rouillard, 75, of Lewiston, passed away Saturday night, Dec. 14, at his home.

He was born in Augusta on July 4, 1938, a son of Leo and Lorraine (Lajoie) Rouillard. He grew up in the Augusta area and attended local schools. Ron was a graduate of Cony High School, Class of 1956.

After graduation, Ron promptly joined the United States Navy and was proud to serve his country. Ron served in the Navy for six years and was honorably discharged in November 1961.

Ron’s service in the Navy was followed by 20 years of dedicated service in the Maine State National Guard, where he achieved the rank of Sergeant First Class. Ron was unable to deploy for Desert Storm due to health reasons and cried the day he saw his fellow soldiers leave.

Ron married Claire Charest on June 27, 1959, at St. Peter’s Church in Lewiston. He worked in various sales positions, one of the longest being with the DAV for 35 years.

Ron was a proud member of the Shriners and the NRA, and was also a freemason and a Kora clown.

He cherished the time he spent hunting and fishing, and enjoyed his time at camp. Ron was an avid Bruins and Patriots fan. He loved playing cards, especially Texas Hold ‘Em, with his brothers- and sisters-in-law.

Ron was most happy spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren (who lovingly referred to him as “Pop Pop.”) He will always be remembered for the unconditional love he had for his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Claire Rouillard of Lewiston; his children, Ronnie Rouillard and wife, Paula, of Turner, Kevin Rouillard and wife, Monique, of Lewiston and Lisa Bell and husband, Shawn, of Lewiston. He is also survived by his mother, Lorraine Spaulding of Washington; his brother, Robert, of Washington; two-half sisters, Sylvia and Sheila; as well as six grandchildren, Justin Rouillard and wife, Heather, Steven Rouillard, Kayla Rouillard, Jenna Rouillard, Brittany Bell and Briley Bell.

Ron was predeceased by his father, Leo R. Rouillard.
