1936 – 2013

FARMINGTON — Janice A. Lannon, 77, died Thursday, Dec. 19, at Franklin Memorial Hospital. She was a resident of Granite Street in Mexico.

Born in Mexico on June 12, 1936, she was a daughter of Clyde and Mary (Kelley) Ames Sr. She was a graduate of Mexico High School, Class of 1954. She worked as a secretary for Harold McInnis Insurance Agency.

Janice attended Rumford Baptist Church and enjoyed going to her class outings. She was a loving mother and wife, whom enjoyed spending time with her family. Janice was married in Rumford on Sept. 29, 1962, to George W. “Poopsie” Lannon; he died in Lewiston on Oct. 16, 1995.

Survivors include a daughter, Kellie Lannon, of Mexico and a son, George Lannon, of Mexico; stepbrothers, George Leadbetter and wife, Phyllis, of Bangor and Fred Leadbetter and wife, Lillian, of Turner; special cousin, Nick Kelley and his wife, Bertha, of Rumford; two sisters-in-law, Diane Ames and Zenia Hodgkins of Rumford; a niece, Donna Bryant, of Wilton; a nephew, Bert Ames, of Rumford; several cousins in Maine and Prince Edward Island, Canada; and her beloved dog, Katie.

She was predeceased by her parents; her stepmother, Lucille Ames; two brothers, Clyde “Stretch” Ames and Gilbert Ames Sr.; and two infant sisters, Marlene and Frances.
