LEWISTON — Aletha M. Hodgson, 84, died Thursday, Dec. 19, at  Central Maine Medical Center. She was a resident of Isthmus Road in Rumford.

Born in Rumford on June 15, 1929, she was a daughter of David and Mary (McGrath) Milligan. She attended Rumford Schools and worked at J.A. Thurston Mill as a clipper and a supervisor, until her retirement after 40 years.

Aletha cherished her grandchildren and great-grandson. She enjoyed painting and being at the camp on Garland Pond, with her grandchildren and all of their friends. She was an avid square dancer and a member of the Mollyocket Mixers Square Dance Club.

She was married in Rumford on Nov. 11, 1948, to Alton R. Hodgson, whom survives of Rumford. Other survivors include a son, Steve Hodgson and his wife, Georgette, of Rumford; grandchildren, Kristin Lewis of Hermitage, Tenn., and Matthew Hodgson of Old Orchard Beach; a great-grandson, Landon Lewis, of Hermitage, Tenn.; a brother, Roland Milligan Sr. and his wife, Thelma, of Rumford; and her dog, T.C.

She was predeceased by her parents; three brothers, Fred “Muck,” Earl and Dexter; and two sisters, Jean O’Brien and Margaret “Peggy” Boucher.
