AUBURN — Sedrick Simons found the back of the net twice for Edward Little as the Red Eddies skated past Mt. Ararat/Lisbon 4-1 in the first round of the Norway Savings Bank 20th Annual Gippers Classic on Friday.

Brandon Dyer and Cody Woodward each netted a goal for the Eddies (1-3), while Ben Steele grabbed two assists. Jason Kenney scored the lone goal for Mt. Ararat, on a pass from teammate Michael Abreu.

Leavitt 2, Gray-New Gloucester 0

AUBURN — Leavitt, held down by great goaltending, took a first period 1-0 lead and never looked back as the Hornets edged out Gray-New Gloucester 2-0 in the first round of the Norway Savings Bank 20th Annual Gippers Classic.

Ryan Gosselin found the back of net in the first period for the Hornets (2-3), while Blayne Arsenault scored in the second period to secure the victory.

Ashton Dozois paced the Hornets, stopping all 17 shots he faced for the shut out.

Clay Rowland had both assists on the day for Leavitt.

Girls’ hockey

Leavitt/EL 14, Mt. Ararat 0

TOPSHAM — Taylor Landry led Leavitt/Edward Little with 5 goals and 4 assists on the night as they topped Mt. Ararat 14-0 in girls’ ice hockey action.

Savannah Shaw saw a lot of action, scoring a hat trick on the evening.

Tori Sanford made six saves in net for the shut out.
