1944 – 2013
AUBURN — Joyce E. Roberts Mathieu, 69, of Healy Terrace in Lewiston, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 14, at the Hospice House surrounded by her children.
Joyce was born in Lewiston on Jan. 1, 1944, the daughter of Samuel and Gloria Roberts. She attended schools in Lewiston, graduating from Lewiston High School in 1962. She worked many different jobs through the years, retiring in 2000 from Central Maine Medical Center’s housekeeping department.
Joyce was very outgoing, making many friends through the years. She was an organizer and planner of everything fun, including starting up Friday coffee meetings, making crafts, book club, game night, monthly potluck dinners and birthday celebrations with her fellow residents and friends at the Dominican Court. She recently moved to Healy Terrace and was looking forward to continuing these fun activities with the residents there, having already made many new friends.
She enjoyed eating out and shopping, and was an avid Boston Bruins and Red Sox fan. She treasured time spent with family the most, whether at a summer barbecue or holiday gatherings. She was very proud of all of her children and grandchildren, and loved being together as a family.
Joyce is survived by her daughter, Wanda Blanchette and husband, Paul, of Auburn; sons, Robert Provencher of Chelsea, Scott Provencher and wife, Arsenia, of North Carolina and Shawn Provencher and partner, Scott, of Auburn; a daughter-in-law, Michele Provencher, of Lewiston; grandchildren, Nicholas Blanchette and wife, Meagan, of Vermont, Dylan Blanchette of Auburn, Nathan and Riley Provencher of Chelsea, Carina, Caitlin, Kirsten and Anthony of North Carolina and Chelsey and Cameron Provencher of Lewiston; one great-granddaughter, Cora Blanchette; sisters, Barbara Skidgell and Doreen “Dodie” Gagne and husband, Norm, all of Lewiston; one brother, Michael Roberts and wife, Carol, of Florida; and many nieces, nephews and good friends.
She was predeceased by her parents; a brother, Donald Roberts; and her niece and godchild, Cathy Benitz.

And finally, they would like to express their deep gratitude to the entire staff of the Hospice House in Auburn, for the care and compassion they showed all of the family.
