Gabrielsen, who will be accompanied by Mark Howard, will perform in both French and English music from “Forgotten Songs,” The Canzone Scordate of Arne Dørumsgaard, (1921-2006), a collection of very early songs and arias for voice and piano. Dørumsgaard’s songs have been performed for over 60 years by world-renowned singers and have been published by Walter Foster.

“The Center is visually stunning with exquisite acoustics. Every note, even the softest pianissimos, can be heard. I love singing there,” said Gabrielsen in a statement released recently about his first concert in the Franco Center.

Gabrielsen, a Norway resident, is a classically trained tenor who studied voice at Southern Methodist University, Sam Houston State University and The University of Arizona. He also has taught Music and Meditation classes at the Dempsey Center and been on the faculty of the Yoga Institute in Houston, Texas, for five years where he teaches contemplative singing, chanting and meditation.

In September, he performed the music of Stephen Foster in a sold-out concert in Norway.

Joining Gabrielsen on stage will be The Press Gang, a high-octane, popular trio out of Portland who play traditional Irish music on many instruments, including the “squeeze box” and Leah Wolfsong, who performs her own compositions about peace and love for the earth. She is accompanied by a native drum, played by her husband, Reinaldo Cortez. Also on the program is soloist Karen Price, a choir director, church music director and voice faculty member of Bowdoin College.

Tickets are on sale now at the Franco Center box office at 46 Cedar St. and can be purchased by calling 207-689-2000 or 207-783-1585 or online at www.francocenter.org.
