BREWER — Miranda Nicely was all over the court. She scored 13 points, pulled down 15 rebounds and earned four assists as Mt. Blue shelved Brewer, 55-35, in a girls’ basketball game Saturday.

The Cougars (2-3) too a 27-17 lead at halftime and kept on going in the second half. Caitlin Kane scored 11 points and Addie Blinkman dropped in 14 to go along with her eight rebounds.

For Brewer, Maddy Bailey scored 11 points.

St. Dom’s 59, Telstar 34

BETHEL — Kelly Pomerleau scored 23 points and Faith Grady added 18 as St. Dom’s dropped Telstar with a 59-34 victory in a girls’ basketball game Saturday.

The Saints (5-1) built a 28-12 lead at halftime.For Telstar (1-5), Tori Ryerson scored 13 points.

Boys’ basketball

St. Dom’s 59, Telstar 28

BETHEL — Matt Dyer scored 15 points and Madison Jalbert added another 14 as St. Dom’s marched past Telstar with a 59-28 victory in a boys’ basketball game Saturday.

The Saints (1-6) jumped out to a 20-4 lead in the first quarter and ended up with 35-15 lead at half time. Cameron added 10 points for the Saints.

For Telstar (1-6), Mike Daugherty scored 11 points.

Maine 4, Princeton 0

ESTERO, Fla. — Martin Ouellette recorded his third shutout of the season while Steven Swavely  had a pair of goals to lead the University of Maine men’s ice hockey team to a 4-0 victory over Princeton  Saturday.

Maine took a 1-0 lead at 3:23 of the opening frame when Steven Swavely redirected a Dan Renouf  shot past Princeton goalie Colton Phinney. Devin Shore made the pass from behind the goal line to Renouf to pick up the second assist on the goal.

The game remained 1-0 until the first minute of the third period when Steven Swavely received a pass from Connor Leen and fired a shot past Phinney from the slot in transition. For Swavely, it was his seventh goal of the season, which tied him for the team lead.
