1959 – 2013

AUBURN — Sheryl L. Farrar Russell, 54, of Abbot, died Wednesday, Dec. 25, at the Hospice House. Her loving brother and Auntie Jean were at her bedside, holding her hand.

She was born in Lewiston on Oct. 4, 1959, the daughter of George and Janette Russell Farrar. She graduated from Oxford Hills High School and the University of Southern Maine, with an associate degree in nursing.

Sheryl was an emergency room nurse at Mayo Regional Hospital for 25 years and also worked with a battered women’s group; she had a warm finesse with people. She was a CPR trainer and traveled to Nicaragua with a medical group, and was involved in many other training programs.

Because of her work, everyone knew her; she had many friends in the medical profession. Sheryl had a large extended family in the Dover-Foxcroft area who loved her and will miss her greatly.

She is survived by her brother, Kenneth “Rusty” Farrar and his wife, Lisa, of West Paris; her aunt and uncle, Jean and Lynn Foster, of West Paris; her aunts, Marion Cooper of Michigan, Pauline Buckingham of Mexico, Frances Swett of Florida, Pat Hunt of Peru, Sharon Philbrook of Greene and Pauline Langmaid and family; her uncle, Peter Russell and family; her nieces, Danielle and her husband, Jon, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Alicia of Massachusetts; her nephews, Kyle and Colin, both of West Paris; a great-nephew, Bronson, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; cousins, Mike Smith and family, Rebecca Foster and Audrey Foster Monroe and husband, Corey; and other extended family.

She was predeceased by her parents, Janette and George; her grandparents, Kenneth and Catherine Russell and Amy Farrar; and several aunts and cousins.
