Improv group performs Jan. 3

RUMFORD — Room for Improv-ment, the Mountain Valley High School improvisation group, will perform at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3, in Muskie Auditorium. During improvisation, actors perform without preparation with often hilarious results.

Hartford Church clothing center

HARTFORD — The Hartford Community Clothing Center will be open from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4 and 18.

The Clothing Center is directly across from the church.

Dress drive is in January

OXFORD HILLS — Prom gowns, bridesmaids gowns, formal or semi-formal dresses and accessories are being sought for The Maine Event Prom Project dress drive.

The project will enable students to attend prom and feel beautiful.

During January, such items can be donated at the following public libraries: Norway, Paris, Raymond, Bridgton and Fryeburg. Organizers request that the donations be like-new, clean and less than five years old.

MVHS class holding bottle drive

RUMFORD — Mountain Valley High School Class of 2014 will hold a bottle drive on Saturday, Jan. 4, beginning at 11 a.m. They will go door-to-door in various neighborhoods.

Donations may also be made by dropping off returnable bottles at the Rumford Information Booth at the bottom of Falls Hill.

The proceeds will be used for graduation activities including Project Graduation.

First Saturday Community Supper

SUMNER — The Congregational Church of East Sumner will hold its 1st Saturday Community Supper at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4.

Menu will include lasagna, salads, breads, drinks and desserts. Raffle items will be available. Donations are requested for the meal.

All proceeds benefit the work of the church, at 50 Main St., Route 219, in East Sumner. For more information, call Bill at 388-2263.

LOCKE MILLS — The Christmas Cantata at the Locke Mills Union Church is now scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 5, at 4 p.m. Refreshments following. Everyone is welcome.

Friendship Squares dance is Jan. 5

WILTON — The Friendship Squares will host a square and round dance from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 5, at the Cushing School.

The dance will be mainstream/mainstream plus. The caller will be Walt Bull. Carol Arsenault will be the cuer.

Western Maine Knitting Guild

PARIS — Western Maine Knitting Guild will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, at the First Congregational Church, East Main Street.

The meeting will be canceled if school is canceled.

Members are reminded to bring any items they have for outreach such as baby hats for the hospital. Hats and mittens are always needed during the winter months.

Bears are also being accepted for the police department or hospital.

Student art at Norway Library

NORWAY — The Norway Memorial Library invites the public to come and view an art exhibit featuring the students from Oxford Hills Middle School.

Art teacher Susan Moccia’s students’ art theme is Zentangle, a method of controlled doodling. Each student chose a word and drew around their chosen word using sharpies.
