1936 – 2013

AUBURN — Huguette Germaine Marquis, 77, formerly of Valley Street in Lewiston, passed away Friday, Dec. 27, at Clover Health Care, with her loving family by her side following a long illness.

She was born in St. Gedeon, Quebec, on Aug. 29, 1936, the daughter of Cyrille and Marie Laure Tanguay. Huguette married Ange Emile Marquis on Aug. 4, 1956, and raised five children. She was a homemaker while her children were growing up. She worked at St. Mary’s Hospital as a housekeeper, until her retirement.

Huguette lived for her family. She loved the holidays, especially Christmas. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren. Her grandchildren will always remember her by her signature, “XXXOOO,” and they were her pride and joy. She loved being with people and visited her family in Canada often.

Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Ange Emile; her three sons, Francois and his wife, Gail, Roger and his wife, Patty, and Steve and his companion, Ann; her two daughters, Sue and her husband, Scott, and Nancy and her husband, Phil; eight grandchildren, Daniel and wife, Whitney, Kayla and husband, Geoff, Jamie, Keith, Eric, Chad, Ryan and Sierra; one great-granddaughter, Brianna; three brothers, Gaetan, Bertrand and Jean; and four sisters, Gaetane, Roselle, Gemma and Francine.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by three sisters, Dorothy, Jeannine and Gilberte; and one brother, Nicol.

The family would like to thank the staff at Clover Health Care for the professional care they gave helping Huguette during her final days.
