1959 – 2013

LEWISTON — Bertrand E. Asselin Sr., 54, of Greene, passed away on Monday, Dec. 30, at Central Maine Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Lewiston on April 25, 1959, the youngest child of Roger and Anita (Martel) Asselin, and was educated in Lewiston schools. Earlier in his life, he worked in car sales and was currently employed at Canteen Services. He will be greatly missed by his friends at BIW, where he serviced their vending machines.

At one time, he loved to go fishing and hunting, and just be in the woods. He also loved family gatherings, cookouts, spending time with his granddaughter and especially riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, with the love of his life, Sandy Vye.

We have been blessed to have had such an inspiring person among us for so many years. Most of us strive to be good people and he did it naturally. We will bid farewell to our dear Bert, with our own wonderful memories. It will be his laughter and his infectious smile that we will remember him for, and the way Bert touched our lives.

Bert is survived by his two sons, B.J. and Chad; a daughter, Katie and her husband, Steve; two stepchildren, Tasha and Noah Vye; his significant other, Sandy Vye; a granddaughter, Kiana, whom he cherished; brothers, Ernest “Sonny” and sister-in-law, Anita, and Roger Jr.; one sister, Pat Long Cressey and brother-in-law, Ken Cressey; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; and his brother, Leo.
