PHILLIPS —The High Peaks Creative Council (HPCC) recently received a $3,000 grant from the Maine Community Foundation Expansion Arts Fund and the Sciences and Arts Foundation Fund.

The Opportunity Center of North Franklin County is serving as the official fiscal sponsor for the HPCC. The grant will help pay to print a map guide that is being designed to highlight the region’s arts and heritage assets, including museums, galleries, events and natural landmarks along a circular driving route.

Saskia Reinholt, HPCC part-time coordinator, said, “This grant will allow us to produce a comprehensive map/guide that clearly defines our Maine High Peaks Arts and Heritage Loop driving tour, which will lead people to all the wonderful landmarks, arts providers and heritage resources in the region.”

The HPCC was formed in 2012 in response to the Maine Arts Commission’s Creative Communities – Economic Development Grant that was awarded to the region. The HPCC mission is to connect and catalyze the region’s creative economy assets.

With offices in Ellsworth and Portland, the Maine Community Foundation works with donors and other partners to improve the quality of life for Maine people. To learn more about the foundation, visit www.mainecf.org.
