Dawn Johnson and her therapy dog, Ghost, recently visited first-graders at Rumford Elementary School. Ghost is a certified therapy dog for the Tail Waggin Tutors Program, and several students were invited to read their books to Ghost. The goal is to build excitement around reading and to give beginning readers a special opportunity to practice reading in a relaxed and nonjudgmental setting. This is the second year Ghost and Johnson have visited the school. The Dalmatian is listening to a story read by Weylin Bertrand, a student in Lynn Newell’s class.
