Time and Tide looking for members

AUGUSTA — Time & Tide Resource Conservation and Development Area will hold its monthly meeting from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, at the USDA offices, 21 Enterprise Dr. Ste. 1.

Time & Tide is a nonprofit group looking to grow membership. It serves residents in Androscoggin, Kennebec, Knox, Lincoln, Sagadahoc and Waldo counties.

The mission is to foster ideas and activities that focus on enhancing natural resources through conservation, preservation and volunteering, while encouraging local economic activity by supporting Maine farmers, producers and artisans.

Center to celebrate cancer survivors

LEWISTON — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing is offering a free winter trails day for cancer patients, survivors and their immediate family members. The celebration of cancer survivors will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, at Carter’s Ski Center, 786 Intervale Road, Bethel.

Free ski package rentals and free trail passes will be available for cancer patients, survivors and their immediate family members (others may purchase a trail pass and/or rentals.) Snowshoers are also welcome. Help will be available for beginners and there will be soups and stews for lunch. Preregistration required.

Toastmasters to hold training

WATERVILLE — Toastmasters International, Division B, will hold a winter Toastmasters Leadership Institute (TLI), aka club officer training, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at Thomas College, hosted by the Kennebec Valley Toastmasters Club.

The training is an opportunity to speak, to learn and to network. Bob Bechtold, Division B governor, invites the public free.
