RUMFORD — Nicole Marie Donahue and Jonathan Arthur Merrill were united in marriage at 4 p.m. on Oct. 5, at Black Mountain of Maine in Rumford. The ceremony was officiated by Rachel Jellison, sister of the bridegroom of Wayne.

The bride is the daughter of Richard and Denise Donahue of Dixfield. The bridegroom is the son of James and the late Janice Merrill of Hallowell.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore an ivory a-line split front gown, with satin fabric with re-embroidered lace appliques and a cathedral train with a matching ivory veil adorned with pearls. She carried a white satin wrapped brooch and locket bouquet made by her mother from family brooches and lockets filled with photos of the bride and bridegroom and loved ones who have passed.

The matron of honor was Sarah Gilbert, friend of Stephens City, Va. The bridesmaids were all friends of the bride, Natalie Dunn of Rumford, Natalie Dupill of Peru, Erin Hatch of Arundel, Jessica Chessie of Dixfield and Erin Stadler of Leeds. The flower girl was Zoe Stadler, goddaughter of the bridegroom of Leeds.

The best man was Samuel Dunn, friend of Rumford. Groomsmen were Shawn Daley, friend of Dixfield, Greg Jellison, brother-in-law of the bridegroom of Wayne, Richard Donahue, brother of the bride of Auburn, Seth Chessie, friend of Dixfield and Adam Merrill, brother of the bridegroom of Hallowell. The ring bearer was Zen Wakefield-Dostie, nephew of the bride of Auburn.

A reception, hosted by the bride’s parents, followed at Black Mountain of Maine.

The bride is a 2001 graduate of Dirigo High School and graduated summa cum laude in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Maine in Orono. She is also a 2010 summa cum laude graduate of Purdue University with a master’s degree in nursing. She is currently employed as a pediatric nurse practitioner at Waterville Pediatrics in Waterville.

The bridegroom is a 1994 graduate of Dirigo High School and attended Central Maine Community College. He is currently employed by Thomas Moser Cabinetmakers in Auburn as a woodworker.

The bride and bridegroom, after a honeymoon in Boston, now reside together in Augusta with their two dogs, Sadie and Macy.
