BATH — The Chocolate Church Arts Center will showcase the talent of father and son performers John and Max Ater for “An Evening of Comedy and Music with the Aters” at 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18.

The show will begin with 20-year-old singer-songwriter Max Ater performing his musical passion for country, pop and jazz genres. Born and raised in Bath, Max began writing at 16 years old while taking part in his high school’s music program along with theatre. He started a band in 2011 after graduating from high school and put his writing to the test in 2012 after winning Maine’s Got Talent with an original song. Currently, Max plays with his own band the “Max Ater Trio” around the mid-coast area.

The fun and family talent will continue with a comedy set by John, who is one of Maine’s favorite standup comics, who works hard and successfully at his craft of making audiences laugh, since 2003. Audiences enjoy John’s lighthearted observations of himself — and his fellow Mainers — and it’s no wonder he is near the top of the list of Maine’s funniest professional comedians and performs all over the state and New England.

Tickets for this benefit show are $15 and available at www.chocolatechurcharts.org or by calling 207-442-8455. The Chocolate Church Arts Center is at 804 Washington Street.
