The Maine Chapter of Women’s Transportation Seminar is offering its first $2,500 scholarship to an outstanding female high school senior pursuing a career in transportation and enrolling in a college or university in one of the STEM disciplines (science, technology, engineering or math).

The recipient will be selected based on academic performance in high school, participation in extracurricular activities, letters of reference and a personal statement.

Application deadline is Jan. 15. WTS-Maine scholarship packages were mailed to all Maine high school guidance offices in November. Students may find the application at their local guidance office, or may contact Elizabeth Brownell at 207-879-1838 or ebrownell@beckerstructural.com.

“WTS-Maine is very proud to be able to offer this inaugural scholarship to a deserving Maine high school student,” said Katy Hews, WTS-Maine chapter president. “We were able to fund this scholarship through the generosity of our corporate sponsors and through our excellent program offerings. The scholarship supports the mission of WTS International to expand opportunities for women in the transportation industry through professional development, mentoring and strategic positioning of women.”
