JAY — A new town manager will be announced Monday, Jan. 13, following a special town meeting, Town Manager Ruth Cushman said Thursday.

The board will vote on hiring the person, following the town meeting at 6 p.m. at the Town Office. Voters will be asked to transfer $100,000 from the undesignated revenue to pay for industrial valuation specialists at the town meeting.

Selectpersons received 24 applications for the position and selected five candidates from Maine to interview. They finished the interviews this week.

The board made an offer to a finalist and that person accepted it, she said.

“I’m excited with the selectpersons’ choice because I think the person will be a perfect fit,” Cushman said.

She declined to release more information until the board votes on the candidate.

Cushman’s last day is expected to be Feb. 24.
