It really is winter in Maine! Sled rides require classic conditions, and Leonard’s Mills in Bradley doesn’t have that at the moment. The ice storm left a thick ice crust on top of powder, under more snow. That was enough to make it dangerous for horses breaking through. Then with Monday’s rain freezing everywhere and a forecast of more rain this weekend, the first rides are now planned for Jan. 19, but please call 944-2999 to check on that as the date gets closer. Rides are scheduled every Sunday until March 2, but the trail conditions will be a major question from week to week. Keep checking that number for updates.
