PORTLAND — A local man was sentenced Friday in U.S. District Court to 14½ years in federal prison for possessing child pornography and violating his supervised release, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
It was the second time since 2001 that Timothy Majeroni, 46, of Portland has been sentenced to federal prison for the same crime, according to information filed on the court’s electronic case filing system.
In addition to prison time, U.S. District Judge George Singal sentenced Majeroni to a lifetime of supervised release.
Majeroni was convicted Sept. 24 by a jury of possessing child pornography on his laptop computer. The images were discovered in November 2012 when his federal probation officer made a home visit.
In 2001, Majeroni was sentenced to three years in federal prison for possessing child pornography. Seven years later, he was sentenced to a year and a day in federal prison after pleaded guilty to failing to register as a sex offender.
He was on supervised release for that crime when child pornography was found on his computer 15 months ago.
