Louis Domingue has given the Portland Pirates a chance to win when he’s in goal.

In the last seven starts coming into Saturday’s games against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, he has a 5-2 record. He improved that mark with a 2-0, 31-save shutout victory in front of 4,525 at the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, Conn.

Andy Miele notched his 16 goal of the season with captain Jordan Szwarz setting him up and along with Lucas Lessio 11:29 into the first period.

The Pirates put an early goal up in the second period, with Brett Hextall potting home his seventh goal of the season 2:19 into the period. Rookie Tobias Rieder set the goal up.

It was Hextall’s fifth goal in the last two weeks.

After a penalty filled first two periods, the two teams cleaned it up in the third period with the Sound Tigers picking up the lone minor penalty.

The Pirates were 0-for-4 on the power play and the Sound Tigers were 0-for-5

Kenny Reiter who just signed a one year contract on Friday with Bridgeport’s NHL affiliate, the New York Islanders made 23 saves in the losing effort.  

Portland finishes the weekend as they travel to face the Worcester Sharks at 3 p.m. on Sunday.
