BETHEL — In September 2013, the protection of Crow Mountain in Shelburne, N.H., was secured by placing 240 acres under conservation easement with the Mahoosuc Land Trust.

As part of the celebration of this landmark event, the Land Trust invites hikers to an afternoon on Crow Mountain on Saturday, Jan. 25, Jolan Ippolito of the trust stated Monday in a news release.

There will be a guided snowshoe climb on the White Trail after which hikers are invited for coffee or cocoa at Philbrook Farm Inn. It is the trust’s first winter hike.

Ippolito said by email that it will be a moderate two-hour climb to the summit.

The hike will begin at 1 p.m. at Philbrook Farm Inn, 881 North Road in Shelburne. Those who prefer, may gather at 12:30 p.m. at the Mahoosuc Land Trust Office, 18 Mayville Road in Bethel to carpool.

Hikers are expected to bring showshoes and poles.

“Please dress in adequate layers for the conditions and bring water,” Ippolito said.

The Land Trust said it is grateful to the Werner family for their commitment and foresight in preserving this key protected area.
