Greenwood Town Manager Kim Sparks told selectmen Tuesday that Saunders Mill taxes for 2011 and 2012, totaling about $12,000, were paid last Friday. At their Jan. 7 meeting she had reported foreclosure notices had been sent in connection with the 2011 tax bill. In addition to the mill taxes, said Sparks, owner Louise Jonaitis paid a 2011 tax bill for $12.82 on a separate one-acre parcel, historically a mill dump, that had been deemed contaminated. Selectmen had recently waived foreclosure on it to avoid having the town become automatic owners of the land. Sparks also said Jonaitis had told her she plans to reopen the currently-closed mill in the spring.
