DAMARISCOTTA — In this age of digital communication, “Keeping Print Alive” will be the theme for a panel of three Maine journalists at the Feb. 1 meeting of Maine Media Women at the Mobius Center on Business Route 1. The meeting begins at 9:15 a.m. with coffee and networking. The program follows at 10.

Among the topics up for discussion are the impact of electronic access on newspaper circulation, revenue and employment; how online and free newspapers sustain themselves; and how the panelists view the future of print vs. online news.

Participating on the panel will be Sherwood Olin, editor of the Lincoln County News; Patricia McCarthy, editor of the weekly Cape Courier; and Gina Hamilton, editor of the New Maine Times (online), formerly with the Coastal Journal. Moderator will be MMW member Cynthia Carney, senior Web editor with L.L. Bean.

All MMW meetings are open to the public, and guests are always welcome. Suggested donations: members $3, guests $5.
