BATH — Auditions will be held for Anton Chekhov’s “The Cherry Orchard” in the Art Gallery at the Chocolate Church Arts Center, 804 Washington St., on Saturday, Feb. 15, 1-3 p.m.; Sunday, Feb. 16, 5:30-7:30 p.m.; and Monday, Feb. 17, 6:30-8:30 p.m.

The play, which deals with a family facing dislocation due to drastic economic change, bears relevance for modern audiences. Chekhov called the play a comedy, believing that as long as people had the potential for change, their lives were not tragic.

Roles will be cast for five women (ages 17-45) and seven men (ages 20-90). The production will be staged in the CCAC’s Curtis Room April 25-27 and May 2-4.

“The Cherry Orchard” will be directed by Howard Waxman, who was a member of the San Francisco Mime Troupe and NY’s Lion Theater Company, and a founder of Broom Street Theater in Madison, WI.
