JAY — Rep. Paul Gilbert, D-Jay, has announced his candidacy for a fourth term to the Maine House of Representatives.

Gilbert is running for the new House District No. 74, which includes Jay, Livermore Falls and the northern part of Livermore.

He serves on the Legislature’s Joint Committee on Labor, Commerce, Research and Economic Development, and the Select Committee on Maine’s Workforce and Economic Future.

Gilbert said he has a strong commitment to education, good jobs, seniors, social justice and affordable health care for all. He was the author of LD 609, “An Act to Increase Suicide Awareness and Prevention in Maine Public Schools.”

Gilbert has more than 30 years of private and public sector management experience. He managed supermarkets prior to his long career as a job service manager for the Maine Department of Labor.

Paul and his wife, Jean, have been married for more than 40 years. They have three married children and eight grandchildren.
