R.A. Partridge of the Central garage, Lewiston, made a trip from Portland to Lewiston Thursday afternoon in a 1914 model Palmer-Singer, Brighton six, automobile coming via Gray and Poland springs, which is considerably remarkable by local automobilists when the condition of the road is considered. At many places the car, which is a five passenger touring car of the very latest type, with six cylinders of 45 horse power, was forced to plough thru the snow up to the wheel hubs, and above the running board. In every instance, however, the machine went thru on its own power and not once until Lewiston was reached were they forced to ask assistance. “I’ve taken a good many winter rides,” said Mr. Partridge, “but that of yesterday trims them all. The way we plunged thru the snow was startling, I tell you!”

The voter service committee of the League of Women Voters of Auburn has distributed pamphlets explaining the procedure of nominating a candidate for President to several public buildings in Auburn. They are available to anyone who would like them. Civics and government teachers at the high school will discuss the subject with their pupils in the near future and it is hoped the students will then take the information home to their parents.

The development company planning a $14 million shopping mall on Mount Auburn Avenue is seeking a zone change for the property to allow construction of enough parking for the project. Christopher J. Heller, a partner in Kayco Properties’ Whiteholm Plaza development, said the firm will seek a change from the cluster development zone to the general business zone for the 36-acre parcel. The site is on the corner of Mount Auburn Avenue and Turner Street, almost directly behind the Auburn Mall. The Hartford, Conn., development firm plans a 280,000-square-foot shopping mall on the former dairy farm.
