FREEPORT — Wolfe’s Neck Woods State Park offers nature programs at 2 p.m. on Sundays through Feb. 23.

A special Saturday nature program will be offered at 2 p.m. Feb. 8.

Programs start at the circle of benches at the end of the second parking lot unless otherwise noted, and may include walks, talks and activities in a beautiful natural setting. Programs last about one hour, weather permitting.

From Feb. 7-12, the park will have a ski and snowshoe trailer with free rentals of snowshoes and cross-country skis available with park admission from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

No reservations needed except for group use. Nature programs are free with park admission. Admission is $1 for ages 5-11; $3 for Maine residents ages 12-64; $4.50 for nonresidents ages 12-64; $1.50 for nonresidents 65 and older. People under 5 and Maine residents 65 and older are free. Feb. 2, Animals Wintering: Add to your knowledge and appreciation of ways in which the park’s animals survive winter.

Feb. 8, Winter in the Woods: Discover the ways both plants and animals survive the winter here in Maine. 

Feb. 9, Wabanaki Winter Legends: Enjoy a walk in the winter woods with stops for stories based on Wabanaki legends.

Feb. 16, Reading Animal Tracks: Add to your knowledge and appreciation in which the park’s animals survive winter and how to identify their tracks. 

Feb. 23, Winter Birds at Wolfe’s Neck: Discover the needs and adaptations of the park’s birds and the ways in which people can help birds around their homes survive winter.
