1928 – 2014

ROCHESTER, Minn. — Charles Morgan, of Rochester, Minn., went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, Jan. 28, at The Homestead in Rochester, Minn.

He was born in Old Town on July 8, 1928, to Filmore and Lillian Morgan. Charlie graduated from Old Town High School in 1945. He joined the Marine Corps on July 17, 1945, and was honorably discharged as a corporal on July 16, 1949. He then attended the school of business at the University of Maine from 1949 – 1953, and graduated Beta Gamma Sigma from the Indiana University School of Business in 1954. During this time, he married the love of his life, Jerice Anne Richardson, on June 15, 1952.

Charlie was a hardworking young man, leading him to become president of Bass Shoe Co., in 1975, bringing the company great success. He was also a man of great passion, enjoying time at his Texas ranch, where he raised world champion quarter horse, Quincy Feature. He and his wife raised three beautiful children together at their home in Maine, where he also became a master Mason at the Wilton Lodge No. 156 F. and A.M.

Charlie is survived by his loving wife, Jerie; children, David Morgan, Cherie (Chuck) Grimm and Rick (Blake) Morgan; grandchildren, Brooke Pinkham, Charlie Morgan, Melissa Samuels, Catherine Lauper, Taylor Morgan, Christopher Grimm, Thomas Morgan and Laura Morgan; and great-grandchildren, Olivia and Hudson Samuels.

Charlie was predeceased by his parents; and three siblings, First Lieutenant Cyrus Morgan, Kenneth Morgan and Verna Brissette.
