PHILLIPS — The Franklin County Sheriff Department is investigating two burglaries on the East Madrid Road, one in Phillips and the other in Madrid Township, Sheriff Scott Nichols Sr. said Friday.

Cpl. Nate Reid responded to a garage burglary where two ATVs were taken and ridden around the property, Nichols said. A hose was cut, fuel was siphoned and a tire was flattened on one ATV, and a winch was destroyed on the other, he said.

The break-in occurred between Jan. 15 and 22.

A camp on the same road was burglarized Jan. 27 or 28 and a day/night rifle scope, Coleman lanterns and blow torch were taken, he said.

Evidence from both scenes is being processed, he said.
